Project written by Dr. Rod Daus-Magbual and Jeremy Villaluz.
Strobel (2001) examined the lives of Filipina/o Americans and how their understanding of colonialism have shaped their identity and has led them to their process of decolonization. Strobel (2001) expressed that decolonization manifests a sense of healing of oneself and the responsibility to address oppression. The “Mind, Body, Soul Project” is a creative and artistic assignment that allow students to articulate their journey of decolonization through creative expression. The significance of this final is for students to tap into their imaginative and creative minds to express how decolonization is a form of healing one’s mind, body, and soul.
